Notifying your change of address:

You can keep your move Ontrack by taking a few simple steps. Being well organized and planning in advance can make your move a lot less stressful. To ensure a smooth relocation, Ontrack Moving recommends to notify a few companies and services before moving. The following is a broad overview of organizations and businesses to contact.

Post Office

Begin notifying important agencies; the post offcie is a good place to start. You have three options on how you can change your mailing address.
1· Change your address online in the post office website. All you need is to have a debit or credit card handy and an email address.
2· Change your address in person by filling out form 3575 at your local post office.
3· Change your address by phone by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS. Identity ferefication is done when calling this number so be sure to have a debit or credit card handy.
After changing your address the U.S Postal Service will foward your mail to your new address for up to one year. Mail forwarding ensures that you will continue to receive your mail and gives you enough time to notify everyone of your new address. This include everyone you do business with or care to keep in touch with.

Setting Up Utilities and Services In Your New Residence

Utility accounts in your old home will need to be either closed or transferred to your new place. Contact your electricity/gas service provider in good time to ensure that everything is working by the time you take possession of your new residence.

Department of Motor Vehicles - DMV

You can change your residence or mailing address Online or by filling out the “DMV 14” form for your California Driver License, Identification Card, vehicle, or vessel. A new driver license, identification card or registration card it's not issued when changing your address. Temporary mailing addresses are not allowed. For more info visit: dmv.ca.gov
U.S. CITIZENS ONLY. The law requires you to update your voter registration when you move to a new permanent residence.

You may authorize the DMV to notify the Secretary of State of a voter change of address if you are already registered to vote. If you move to another county or are not registered to vote, you must complete a voter registration application. The voter registration application can be completed online or downloaded by visiting:RegisterToVote.ca.gov
“REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST REPORT A CHANGE OF ADDRESS TO DMV WITHIN 10 DAYS OF THE CHANGE”
